JOSE PICANCO Obituary

Peacefully with family by his side, Jose passed away on Thursday, March 28, 2024 at the age of 87 years.


He was predeceased by his loving wife Maria Lucia and his beloved son Daniel.


Jose will be lovingly remembered by his children; Jose (Kathy), Aldina; grandchildren Christina, Danielle, Brianna, Felicia and Adrian; great grandchildren; sister Fatima as well as many nieces, nephews across the world.


He was born in Graciosa and raised in Terceira, Azores.  He came to Canada in 1959 to build a life for himself and raise a family, he loved this country and the opportunity it gave him and his children. Jose loved telling his tales of being on the ocean fishing with his father and learning the lessons of being hardworking and generous to those in need.   He liked music, his garden, and working with his hands either making things from wood or repairs to the house he took such pride in. He was always making jokes and trying to get everyone to smile and laugh.


Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, April 6 at 10:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Interment to follow in Assumption Cemetery.


In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Jocelyn House.
