ROBERT EMIEL VAN DE KEERE
Suddenly on July 15, 2020 at St. Boniface Hospital, Robert passed away at the age of 70.
Robert was born March 3, 1950 at the St. Boniface Hospital and grew up in the area known as Prairie Grove. He was predeceased by his parents Emiel and Louise.
Robert leaves to mourn his wife Carla Macintyre and his four siblings Gene (Jeanette), Joe (Thelma), Irene (Gary) and Diane (Bruce). He will be greatly missed by his step-daughter Marcy, and his grandchildren Lucas, Ella and Emily.
Robert first went to a one-room school in Prairie Grove and ended up graduating in Oak Bank High School.
While he worked, he took classes and earned his B.Sc. in mathematics and computers.
His first job was working for Shell Oil on Panet Road. Then he worked for Continental Can at the corner of Dugald Road and Lagimodiere. He finally worked for CP Railway Shop as a mechanic and as a machinist doing large equipment repair, running and programing CNC robotic equipment.
He retired at the age of 65 and lived a modest life with Carla in their home in Transcona.
His great joy was the model train club making friends and models. When his eyes failed due to diabetics, he learned new things tinkling with computers.
He will be laid to rest at Prairie Grove Cemetery.
Due to Covid-19 only a limited number of close friends and relatives will attend prayers and funeral.
