Obituary of SR. FLORA LÉA BEAUDIN

SR. FLORA LÉA BEAUDIN (SR. M. JEANNE D’ARC)

January 20, 1917 – January 30, 2018

Ten days after marking her 101 birthday, Flora Léa Beaudin died peacefully at Actionmarguerite Taché.  Born on January 20, 1917 in San Clara MB, Léa grew up in St. Eustache, and lived there until she went to the novitiate of the Sisters of Our Lady of the Missions at Sacred Heart College in Regina.  She made final vows on July 26, 1950.

Most of Sr. Beaudin’s religious life was lived in Manitoba and Quebec.  She served in a variety of capacities in school and community settings. She was particularly grateful for the fourteen years she served in Montreal at St. Pie X Église on Rue Lavallée from 1975-1989.  Visiting sick, elderly, and shut-in members of the parish community was deeply meaningful for Léa, and she entered into this ministry with her whole heart.

Preceded in death by her parents John Beaudin and Eva Lemontagne, as well as her sisters Rosa St. Germain, Laura Lachance, Florence Lachance; and brothers Omer Beaudin, Maise Beaudin, Donat Beaudin and Laurent Beaudin; Léa is survived by her sisters Amanda LeClair and Octava Ried, her many nieces and nephews, and the Sisters of Our Lady of the Missions.

The Sisters of Our Lady of the Missions are most grateful to the nursing staff at Despins Residence and Actionmarguerite Taché for the care given to Sr. Beaudin.  They are also grateful to Bonnie Dickie who, as Sr. Lea became increasingly infirm, was unfailingly kind and attentive to her changing needs.

Funeral Mass of the Resurrection will take place at Despins Residence, 151 Rue Despins, Winnipeg, on Wednesday, February 7, at 1:00 p.m. with Fr. Arthur Massé, OMI presiding.  Interment will be at Assumption Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, friends may wish to send a donation to the Mission Fund of the Sisters of our Lady Missions, 393 Gaboury Place, Winnipeg, MB, R2H 0L5.
