Obituary of LAURETTE (LAURIE) MENARD

LAURETTE (LAURIE) MENARD

(nee LOISELLE)

We are deeply saddened at the loss of Laurie on Monday June 26, 2017 at the age of 94.

Left to cherish her memory are her son Edward, daughter Marianne (Don) McNabb, grandchildren Tegan and David; sisters Jeannette Colquhoun, Yvonne Pedden, Cecile (Ernest) Rurak, and brother Ronald Loiselle.

Predeceased by her beloved husband Leo of 68 years, parents Fred and Clemence Loiselle; brothers Albert, Henry and Alfred and sisters Leonie Gabrielle and Anita Loiselle.

Laurie served in the CWAC from August 31, 1942 to May 10, 1946.  She was on the Pacific Draft when the Second World War ended.  Officer and honorary life member of the most venerable order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem, Prior of Canada.  Laurie was a stay at home mom for 16 years before returning to school, becoming a Medical Records Technician and working at the HSC until her retirement.

Laurie enjoyed traveling with her husband Leo and wintering in Florida, Hawaii and Victoria.  Laurie was an amazing cook and loved to entertain.  There were many memorable parties at their home on Somerville Ave. and Sunday dinners with the family were a tradition that we were all privileged to enjoy for many years.  Laurie also loved the arts including opera, ballet and classical music.

The family wishes to extend their thanks and appreciation to the staff at West Park Manor 2N, for their kind and compassionate care to both Laurie and Leo.
