GRACE MARTHA MARION WALKTY (n�e FOLKES) December 16,1920-December 6,2008 Grace passed away peacefully at Middlechurch Home on Saturday, December 6 at the age of 87 years after a long struggle with Alzheimer's disease. Left to cherish her memory are, her loving husband of 32 years, John (Joe), her son Patrick French, her stepsons Gordon Walkty (Charlotte) and Ian Walkty (Kathy), five grandchildren, Scott, Andrew, Joël (R�gine), L�ah and M�lanie (Tyler) and great granddaughter Gabrielle. She will be lovingly remembered by her sisters Nora Slater (Al) of Kelowna, and Marjorie Broadbent of Grand Forks, British Columbia. Grace was predeceased by her parents, Charles Graham Folkes and Frances Whenray, her first husband Clifford French and five brothers, Charles, John, Clifford, Harry and Gerald . Grace lived all her life in Winnipeg, and as a young girl was known for her athletic abilities, including track and field and speedskating. During her career, she worked at Fraser Art Supplies until she and Joe were married and began their retirement years together. They shared many interests, and spent countless hours playing golf and bridge, hiking, dancing, and travelling. They enjoyed many winters in Arizona surrounded by their close friends. Grace was an energetic person who remained cheerful and found pleasure in music and Joe's devoted attention and support throughout the years when she was challenged by illness. The family wishes to express its heartfelt thanks to the caring and compassionate personnel of the A1, B1, and N1 units at Middlechurch Home. Cremation has taken place. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date.
