PETER TOEWS

1927-2008

On November 6, 2008, Peter died in hospital after surviving an accidental fire in his apartment. He was unable to fight the pneumonia which developed and he died peacefully in his sleep.

Predeceased by his children Aubrey, Vivian and Rudy, he is survived by his children: Rick Toews (Tappen, BC), Ev Strong (Winnipeg), Jerry Toews (Abbotsford, BC) and Sheila Keighan (Jeff) (Calgary, AB); also by his siblings: Abram Toews (Anne) and Margaret Dyck (Peter), both of Winnipeg; Aaron Toews (Carstairs, AB); Kathy Brown (BC), Eleanor Pirlot (Henry) (East Braintree, MB); and his grandchildren, Naomi and Sarah of Abbotsford, BC. He will also be remembered by many nieces and nephews, as well as friends in the Altona area and Rosenfeld where Peter was born.

The family is very grateful for the care he received by the staff at Victoria General Hospital. Special thanks to Emile Paul, caretaker of Bluebird Lodge, whose compassionate and generous spirit towards Peter were much appreciated.

Service of Remembrance will be held on Monday, November 10 at 3:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street at Inkster.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Peter's memory to the Children's Hospital.
