Raymond SOLMUNDSON Obituary

Raymond Gordon Solmundson

July 21, 1936 - September 10, 2010

It is with deep regret and sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our husband, father and grandfather, Raymond Solmundson.

He leaves to mourn in his passing his loving wife Shirley, his sons Brian (Gwen) and Robert (Lara), and his two grandchildren Patrick and Kali, who he loved more than life itself.

Ray was born and raised in Gimli, Manitoba, and was very proud of his Icelandic heritage. He had five siblings, Hope, Jimmy, Roy, Ruth and Louise. He moved to Winnipeg in the early 1960's and was a long time employee with Weston Bakeries where he retired from after 33 years of service in 1995.

After his retirement, he joined the Old Goats Club, where he was affectionately known as "Father Ray". Every Monday, the Old Goats would spend their day at the golf course, followed by a meeting at the corner.

The family would like to give their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Trevor Lee and the very kind and compassionate staff at the Victoria General Hospital who took wonderful care of Ray.

A Memorial Service will be held in Ray's honour at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 16 at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main at Inkster.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Diabetes Association.

Our dear husband, father and grandpa, you will be deeply missed.

Raymond Gordon Solmundson
