STYLIANOS CONSTANTINIDES September 15, 1931 - February 8, 2009 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Husband, Father and Papou, STYLIANOS CONSTANTINIDES on Sunday, February 8, 2009. Stylianos leaves behind his loving wife of 47 years, Chrisoula and children; Harry (Angie and grandchildren Stelios, John and Ulysses; Demos (Voula and grandson Stelio); George (Marilena and grandchildren Stelio, Chrissa and Calliope); Maria (Constantine and grandchildren Panayioti and Eleni); siblings George (Dina); Irene (Basil - Deceased); Evangeline (Gavriil); Pericles (Efstathia) and numerous relatives in Canada and Greece. Stylianos was born on September 15, 1931 in Sigri, Lesvos, Greece. After serving several years in the Greek Military, he left Greece to come to Canada. In 1957, Stylianos boarded the Queen Frederica for a Trans-Atlantic voyage to the New World. On July 7, 1957 Stylianos landed at Pier 21 in Halifax and continued by train to his final destination of Winnipeg to meet his brother George. Together they were instrumental in helping other family and extended family to come to Canada. In 1961 Stylianos married Chrisoula and proceeded to start a family. Stylianos was a devoted family man, loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and son. His life centered around his family, friends, the Greek community and church. He was a proud member of the St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church. He volunteered countless hours for many church and community events. The family would like to thank the staff on the fourth floor of the Victoria General Hospital for their compassion and excellent care. Prayers will be held on Wednesday, February 11, at 7:00 p.m. The funeral is Thursday, February 12, at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Fr. Theodore Paraskevopoulos officiating, both at the St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 2255 Grant Avenue, Winnipeg. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Manitoba Hellenic Cultural Center, 2255 Grant Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3P 0S2 - phone 889-8723.
