Karan Leigh-Anne Walker (née Hitch)

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Karan Leigh-Anne Walker (née Hitch).

Karan was born in Trenton, Ontario, and grew up in Brighton, Ontario, the place she always considered home and that held a very special place in her heart. Brighton was her favorite place in the world. No matter where life took her, she never lost her connection to her hometown. She followed the news from Brighton, kept up with what was happening in the community, and remained in touch with many of the wonderful friends she made there throughout her life.

Karan was predeceased by her beloved husband, Harry James Walker, who passed away on May 24, 2021; her common-law partner, John Balsar; her parents, Jean and Lloyd Hitch; and her sisters, Arlene and Margaret.

She leaves behind her children, Tania Lachance, James Walker, and Cheryl Walker, who will carry her memory with them.

Karan was a grandmother to Jessica, Sydney, Sadie, Rick, Zen, Nicholas, and Brooke, and a great-grandmother to Owen, Bentley, Sutton, Kyrie, Solaya, and Dallyce.

She is lovingly remembered by her sisters Teresa, Christine and Cindy, her brothers-in-law Ted, Terry, and Jerry, and her sisters-in-law Kathy, Vivian, and Beatrice. She will also be remembered by her many nieces and nephews, including Cali, Cortny, Ryan, Kassandra, Joan, David, Ashley, Chelsea, Michael, Brent, and Amanda, along with many extended family members and dear friends.

Karan's life was made up of many chapters, relationships, experiences, and memories. She touched the lives of many people in different ways, and each person who knew her will carry their own stories and memories of her.

One of the things that remained constant throughout Karan's life was her connection to the people and place she called home. Her love for Brighton never faded, and the friendships she maintained there were deeply meaningful to her.

The family invites everyone who knew Karan to share their memories, stories, photographs, and experiences with the family. Whether you knew her for decades or only crossed paths with her along the way, every memory is a part of the story of her life and will be treasured by those who loved her.

Karan will be deeply missed by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family, friends, and all those who had the privilege of knowing her.

May the memories of Karan, the places she loved, and the people who were important to her remain close to our hearts.
