Tom Gibbons (Buckskin)

Thomas Alexander Gibbons, a.k.a. (Buckskin), of Winnipeg, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 25, 2026, with his family and friends by his side at the age of 64. Born on March 21, 1962, in Rainy River, Ontario to parents Harry Gibbons Sr. and Louise Andy; grandparents, Katie Gibbons, Lawerence Gibbons Sr. and Olga Andy and John Andy.

Thomas grew up on Big Grassy First Nation Musk-Kosiminiziibing, Ontario with his aunt Rita and uncle Dave. He was part of the Lynx Clan. In the same household, Rosie, Greg, Tanya, who predeceased him; also, brother Albert (Craze), Joseph (Sawski) and sisters Shirley, Baby girl. He leaves behind his children, Dylan, Danielle, Jamie (Mo), with ex-wife Mae; grandchildren Damian, Alyssa, Ava and helped raise Teresa, Madison, Montana and Chance with his predeceased wife Joanne Louise Crate. Also, his nieces Ronda (Del) and Florene (Ron). He enjoyed spending time with Savannah, Shyenne, Leory, Austin, Xavier, Zander and all the Morrison family. Thomas loved visiting his cousins Bill (Gawmoose), James (Jazz) and the late Robert Tuesday.

In his spare time, Thomas loved visiting with his late brother (Craze) who he missed dearly. His favorite past time during his younger years, he enjoyed playing hockey and playing card games with his family and friends. He worked as a guide on Lake of the Woods. When Thomas moved to Winnipeg, he loved jigging and dancing. His favorite saying was "just put it on my tab niece", he never called me by my name. I'm sure his family knows. He was a kind soul and a loving person. He was there for us when we needed him and he always told us “I love you” every chance he got.

We will miss him dearly.

Funeral Service will be Friday, July 31, 2026 at 2:00 p.m., Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street.  Viewing 1 hour prior to the service.
