It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of Brent Edward Lariviere, born June 12, 1963 at Swan River Valley Hospital. He passed away on July 12, 2026 at St. Boniface Hospital.

Brent was predeceased by his father John Robert Lariviere, sisters Donna Mary and Joanne Roberta Lariviere. He will be missed by his mother Doreen, siblings Les, Phyllis (Ken), Duane, Brad (Ana) and nephew Denny (Jessica), nieces Deneen (Stefan), Kristy (Wes), Jenna (Kelby), Kayla (Eric) and numerous relatives and friends.

Brent (Bugsy, Big-B) lived most of his life in Winnipeg and grew up in St. Vital. He worked several jobs until he found his true calling which was working as a transit bus driver for the City of Winnipeg.

He spent his early years playing sports, in particular football for the St. Vital Mustangs and Fort Garry Lions. He enjoyed playing any type of hockey such as ice, spongee, floor and especially ball hockey. In 2011, he was inducted into the Manitoba Ball Hockey Hall of Fame. He also enjoyed playing golf where he accomplished the rare feat of getting a hole-in-one, not once but twice.

Other activities were playing bingo and cribbage with his mom, shooting pool and playing poker. He loved poker so much and often told people it was his second job. Also, he loved hanging out with his friends every chance he could get and enjoyed trying to be the life of the party.

Later in life, he found a passion for travel. Every year, he would go to Mexico or parts of the Caribbean with a group of friends.

Our family would like to thank the excellent care given to Brent in his final days by staff at the St. Boniface Hospital (ICMS unit).

A celebration of Brent’s life will be held on Tuesday July 21, 2026. 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm (viewing), 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm(service), 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm(reception) at Cropo Funeral Home located at 1442 Main St. Winnipeg MB.
