ALEXANDRE PEREIRA RODRIGUES Obituary

Alexandre Pereira Rodrigues

It is with profound sadness, yet with gratitude for a life well lived, that we announce the peaceful passing of Alexandre Pereira Rodrigues at the age of 90.

Alexandre was born on December 16, 1935, in Vilas Boas, Portugal, to Manuel Rodrigues and BelmiraPereira. He grew up in a close-knit family where hard work, faith and love were the foundation of everyday life. From a young age, he helped tend the family farm and care forthe animals, developing a lifelong love of the land and a deep appreciation for honest work.

After completing his military service, Alexandre spent seven years in Brazil and later two years in France insearch of opportunity and a better future. In 1971, he immigrated to Canada, where he married the love of his life, Margarida, and together they built a home and family. Although he deeply appreciated the opportunities Canada provided, Portugal—and especially his beloved village of Vilas Boas—always remained close to his heart.

Alexandre was predeceased by his parents, Manuel Rodrigues and Belmira Pereira, and by his beloved older brother, João.

A devoted husband, loving father, proud Avô and faithful friend, Alexandre will be lovingly remembered by his beloved wife, Margarida; his loving daughter, Alexandra, and son-in-law, Vito; his cherished grandsons, Vincent and Luciano; his surviving sisters, Lídia, Maria, and Natvidade; his numerous nieces and nephews; and many beloved relatives and dear friends throughout Portugal, France, Brazil, and Canada.

Known for his creativity and resourcefulness, Alexandre had a remarkable ability to fix almost anything using whatever materials he had on hand. He loved working in his garden, making homemade wine the traditional way by crushing grapes, preparing homemade Portuguese sausage, and sharing these traditions with family and friends. He found joy in building, growing, and creating, and he passed on not only practical skills but also an appreciation for perseverance, humility, and generosity.

A devoted Roman Catholic, Alexandre lived his faith quietly and faithfully throughout his life. His family finds comfort in knowing that he received the Last Rites before his passing, a blessing that brought him great peace.

Above all, Alexandre will be remembered for the love he expressed through his actions. Whether braiding his daughter's hair before school, buttering toast just the way she liked it, working beside his grandsons

with handmade miniature tools, or always lending a helping hand, he showed that love is found in life's simplest moments.

He leaves behind a legacy of faith, hard work, kindness, family, and enduring love. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A Funeral Mass celebrating Alexandre's life will be held on Friday, July 10, 2026 at Immaculate Conception Church, 181 Austin Street N., Winnipeg.  Viewing will begin at 11:00 a.m. followed by the Funeral Mass at 12:00 noon.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the charity of the donor's choice in Alexandre's memory.

"Descansa em paz, Alexandre. May he rest in eternal peace."

A life rooted in Portugal, a legacy cherished in Canada, and a love that will remain in our hearts always.
