In loving Memory of Bronislava Vyspyanska

With profound sorrow, deep love and heartfelt gratitude for a life beautifully lived, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Bronislava Vyspyanska, who peacefully entered eternal rest on Thursday, June 18, 2026.

Born in the village of Zaboyky, Ternopil Region, Ternopil Oblast, Ukraine, Bronislava’s life was a remarkable journey defined by faith, compassion, perseverance and unwavering devotion to family.  Though she lived through changing countries, generations and circumstances, the values that guided her never changed: kindness, hard work, dignity, generosity and love.

After completing her schooling, Bronislava moved to Ternopil and later, following her marriage to the love of her life, Ostap Vyspyansky, settled in Lviv, Ukraine.  Together they build a loving home and raised their two cherished children.  Anatoliy and Halyna.  Their family was the center of Bronislava’s world and remained her greatest pride throughout her life.

Blessed with a caring heart and a calling to serve others, Bronislava graduated from Medical College No.1 in Lviv with a diploma in Midwifery.  She dedicated many years of her life to working in a Women’s Hospital, where she helped welcome countless babies into the world.  For many mothers and families, she was present during life’s most precious moments.  She approached her profession not simply as a job, but as a vocation of compassion, responsibility and service.  The same gentle hands that comforted newborns and mothers also nurtured her own family and friends throughout her life.

Following her retirement, Bronislava embarked on another courageous chapter.  When her daughter Halyna and her family immigrated to Winnipeg, Canada, Bronislava followed, leaving behind the familiar surroundings of her homeland to remain close to those she loved most.  She helped care for her beloved grandson Orest and became a pillar of strength, wisdom and unconditional love for her family.

Yet Bronislava was never content to simply watch life pass by.  She embraced her new country with remarkable determination and grace.  Winnipeg soon became not only her residence but her home.  She built meaningful friendships, learned new ways of life and became an active and respected member of the Ukrainian-Canadian community.

Her faith was the foundation of her life.  Bronislava devoted countless hours to volunteering at Holy Family Nursing Home and at the Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral of Saints Volodymyr and Olha.  The Cathedral became her second home, where she found friendship, fellowship and purpose.  She participated enthusiastically in parish activities and celebrations, always offering her time, energy and caring spirit to others.  Through her kindness and sincerity, she built friendships that lasted a lifetime.

Bronislava also shared her gifts through her work at Ann’s Perogy Palace and Mom’s Perogy Factory, where her traditional Ukrainian cooking skills brought joy and comfort to many.  Whether caring for patients, preparing meals, volunteering, praying with friends, or helping her family, she gave of herself wholeheartedly.

Those who know Bronislava will remember her gentle smile, her quiet strength, her wisdom and her remarkable ability to make people feel cared for and valued.  She had a gift for bringing comfort during difficult times, celebrating the happiness of others and finding joy in simple moments.  Her home was always open, her table was always welcoming and her heart was always generous.

Above all else, Bronislava loved her family.  She celebrated every achievement, shared every burden and offered unwavering support through every season of life.  Her children and grandchildren were her greatest treasures.  The love she gave so freely became the foundation upon which generations of her family have built their lives.

Bronislava was predeceased by her beloved husband, Ostap Vyspyansky; her parents, Ivan and Kateryna; her sister, Mariya; and her brother, Mykhailo.

She leaves behind her loving son Anatoliy, daughter Halyna, grandchildren Orest, Marta-Sophia, Taras, extended family and many dear friends in Canada, Ukraine and beyond, all of whom were blessed by her love and friendship.

While our hearts ache with her loss, we are grateful for the extraordinary gift of having shared our lives with her.  Her legacy is not measured by years alone, but by the countless lives she touched, the family she nurtured, the friendships she treasured and the love she gave without reservation.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to all parishioners of the Cathedral, the management and residents of St. Josaphat Selo-Villa Apartments, Roma and Vasyl Hlova, Anna Pryhrodska, Iryna Zapiv, Maria Bodnar, Eva Zaiats, Jackie of Suite 414, and Fr. Ihor Shved for their prayers, compassion, friendship and support during this difficult time.

A life devoted to caring for others, a heart devoted to family and a soul devoted to God.

Funeral Liturgy will be held on Friday, June 26, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. Sts. Volodymyr & Olha Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral 115 McGregor St. Winnipeg. Internment at Holy Family Catholic Cemetery West St. Paul, MB.
