Linda Duka (nee Lewandoski)

On Sunday, June 14, Linda Duka passed away with her husband Frank and close family by her side, at the young age of 68.

She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend.

Linda is predeceased by her parents Leonard and Verna Lewandoski, and brother Gordon Lewandoski.

Lovingly remembered by husband Frank of 26 years, sons Tim (Kathy), Chad (Crystal), grandchildren Hayden (Ashley), Tatania and Kimberly, and great-grandchildren, Siblings Ronnie (Leah), Robert (Connie), Joyce (Zane), and many uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, friends, and coworkers. Special note for Auntie Toni, who spent hours on the phone with Linda.

Linda was the second oldest of 5 children. She was very excited when her little sister Joyce came along for her to play with, and become her best friend. She was raised in the north end of Winnipeg, where she stayed to raise her own two boys. She then met the love of her life, Frank, and they married in 2000 during such a heavy rainstorm that they lost power. Linda was not a fan of storms, but knew that Frank would always be there to hold her through them. Everyone who attended the wedding will remember it. Frank and Linda resided in the West End of Winnipeg.

Linda was never afraid to try something new. She worked at a number of jobs; House cleaning, Wendy’s, Taco Time, Superstore, Safeway, 7Eleven, and finally at Manitoba Liquor Store #17. She was a fast learner, and was quicky well liked, forming special bonds with coworkers and management. Her health issues eventually got in the way, and after over a year of being off work, she decided to retire in May 2026.

Linda and Frank loved summers at Camp Rusalka near Gimli for almost 30 years. She made true friendships lasting a lifetime. She was known for long weekend stays with Joyce, selling 50/50 tickets to raise funds for the camp, and dancing in the hall. She was often found in her garden; She loved to have solar lights in the yard to light her way in the dark. She also loved baking, making treats all year for those she loved, and she enjoyed cooking and planning dinners. She often talked about dinners with Chad and Hayden, making meat balls and mashed potatoes (which she would not eat). She was very fussy in what she ate because she was an adult now, and didn’t have to eat it if she didn’t like it. She often talked about how proud she was of Hayden, who has just graduated from his RCMP training.

Linda was the only person who would fly to BC for vacation but would spend 2 days making perogies (Gina even called to order some). Linda made cabbage rolls but always said they were never as good as her mom’s. Linda loved to travel with Frank, Joyce, and Zane on cruises, trips to the states, and BC.

She struggled over 5 years with different health issues, making it hard to plan ahead, never knowing if it would be a good day or not.

Linda was one of the strongest, kindest, loving, and supportive people anyone could know. She never wanted her health to get in the way of others fun.

Family would like to thank HSC (who did her heart surgery 25 years ago), Seven Oaks, and the Grace for her care.

She will be missed and forever in our hearts.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, June 26, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel (1442 Main Street).
