GWYNETH DAWN DOVER Obituary

It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Gwen, our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend on May 29, 2026, at Seven Oaks Hospital surrounded by the love of her family.

Gwen will be lovingly remembered by her four children: Diane (Allan) Scott, Shelley (Scott) Brown, Glenn and Derek (Jan) Dover. Six grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, sister Margaret (Dave) Diduck, her husband's siblings Joan, Pat and Bill. She will also be deeply missed by her numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends.

She was predeceased by her loving husband of 59 years, George in December 2019. Her parents Alexander Dunlop (1971), (Gwyneth) Olive Gallie (1990). Her husband's siblings Bobby (in infancy), Betty and her precious dog Fifi.

Gwen spent many happy summers at the family cabin in Grand Beach. Travelling by train with her parents out to the beach as a young girl. Then continued the tradition spending summers there with her own children up until the family cabin was sold in 1979.

Gwen was bitten by the travel bug later in life enjoying Hawaii twice, Las Vegas, Florida and while on a Caribbean cruise Jamaica, Grand Cayman and Mexico. Canadian destinations include BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Ontario visiting friends and family alike.

She loved playing cards. Canasta on Tuesday and whist on Thursdays where she met many great friends that she kept in touch with until her passing. She also enjoyed Stars on Ice, Rainbow Stage, the Johnny Reid Christmas concerts and the Ballet. The Nutcracker being her favorite.

Above all else, her greatest joy were the visits from her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved spoiling them with freshly baked cookies and her famous wacky cake. She made sure they always had a birthday money cake which the kids loved and looked forward to. As she got older and baking became a challenge, she still made sure plenty of treats were available. She filled her cupboard and fridge with all their favourites. And when the kids came over, they knew exactly where to find them!

In accordance with Gwen's wishes, cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held. A private family interment will take place at a later date.
