IVONE MARTINS RIBEIRO Obituary

It is with great sadness that our family announces the passing of Ivone Ribeiro on Sunday, May 31, 2026, at St. Joseph’s Residence at the age of 82.

Ivone was predeceased by her beloved husband, Jose Ribeiro. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Paula Tavares (Luis), and her son, Pedro Ribeiro (Elizabeth); her cherished grandchildren, Teren (Gabriella), Kyle, Taylor, and Keira; her many beloved sisters and brothers in both Winnipeg and Portugal; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

Born in São Miguel, Azores, Portugal, in 1943, Ivone immigrated to Canada in 1974 with her husband and two children to begin a new chapter in their lives. She was a devoted wife and mother whose deep Catholic faith guided her throughout her life. A lifelong parishioner, she found strength, comfort, and community in her faith.

Ivone was known for her strong work ethic and spent many years working as a talented seamstress. She will be remembered for the tremendous love she had for her family, her exceptional baking, and the wonderful meals she lovingly prepared for those around her. Her kitchen was always a place of warmth and welcome, and no one ever left her table hungry. These gifts brought joy and comfort to countless family gatherings and created cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

In her later years, dementia gradually took away many of the talents and abilities she treasured, but it never diminished the love she shared or the impact she had on those who loved her. Her kindness, faith, and devotion to her family remain her lasting legacy.

We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to the incredible staff at St. Joseph’s Residence for the loving care provided to Ivone over the past three years. Your kindness, patience, and compassion meant so much to her and to all of us. You not only cared for her needs, but you also cared for her heart, and we will always be thankful for that.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Alzeimer’s Society of Manitoba.

The funeral service will be held on Friday, June 5 at 12:00p.m. at Immaculate Conception Parish, 181 Austin St. N with entombment at Assumption Roman Catholic Cemetery. A reception will follow at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street.
