WALTER WILLIAM MONTGOMERY Obituary
Walter William Montgomery
Walter William Montgomery, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, passed away peacefully at Holy Family Nursing Home on May 21st. Walter was surrounded by the love and support of his family. Born on September 3rd 1936, Walter lived a life rooted in devotion to family, quiet strength, kindness and unwavering love.
On June 21st of 1961, Walter married the love of his life, Eunice Marie Galarneau. Together they built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, resilience and cherished memories that spanned over 6 decades. Their marriage was built on a deep and lasting love, filled with unwavering devotion, partnership and countless cherished memories. Together they created a life centered around family, loyalty and love.
Walter was a proud and devoted father to his three children: Connie Webb, Wally Montgomery and Sarah Crawford. Family was the center of Walter’s world and he worked hard throughout his life to provide love, guidance and support to his family in every way he could. He celebrated their accomplishments, stood beside them through life’s challenges and cherished the many memories they created together over the years. His love for his family was constant and unconditional. The bond he shared with each of them remained close to his heart throughout his life. Even as the family grew through marriages, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Walter’s greatest pride continued to be the family he and Eunice built together.
Walter was predeceased by his beloved daughter Connie Webb, in 2020, as well as Connie’s husband Leo Webb in 2017. Connie left behind her two sons Mathew and Brenton, whom she loved more than anything. Mathew, his wife Emma and their son Skylar brought great joy to Walter’s life and he always enjoyed looking at the pictures of his grandson and the beautiful life he created. Brenton and his beautiful daughters, Serendipity and Nova, were all loved so dearly and considered an important and special part of Walter’s family. Many fond memories of Brenton and Mathew’s childhood often brought a smile to Walter’s face. Both boys were deeply loved and cherished by him. His three great-grandchildren were also very precious to Walter and he often talked about them with great love and pride.
Walter is lovingly remembered by his only son Wally Montgomery and his wife Nataliya. Together they share a blended family filled with love. Walter was an extremely proud grandfather to Riley and Rhea. He loved them beyond words and was deeply proud of the young adults they have grown to be. They are truly his pride and joy. Walter also warmly embraced Nataliya’s daughters Alina, Karina and Tanya (husband Jeremy and son Wyatt) as part of the Montgomery family.
Walter is also survived by his loving daughter Sarah Crawford and her husband Shawn. He was an incredibly proud grandfather to Aidan and Hunter and there was nothing that brought him more happiness than to watch his grandsons grow into the young men they are today. He absolutely loved watching their hockey games and video clips and hearing about their hockey journeys. Walter was so proud of his grandson’s hockey careers and he truly believed that one day they would play for his beloved Toronto Maple Leafs.
Walter’s life was defined by the countless quiet ways he showed love and support to those around him. He will be remembered for his steady presence, caring heart, wisdom and the deep love he had for his family. His legacy will live on through the generations he helped shape and the memories that will forever be carried in the hearts of those who loved him.
