JOSEPH RANDALL CHARLES MacDONALD Obituary

Joseph Randall Charles MacDonald (“Randy”), age 50, passed away on April 17, 2026 at St. Boniface hospital, shortly after celebrating his 50th birthday on April 5.

Born in Saint John, New Brunswick, Randy lived with diabetes from childhood, a lifelong challenge that he faced with strength and resilience. Over the years, he endured the loss of his legs and his right eye, and more recently was diagnosed with kidney failure in late 2025. Despite everything, Randy never let these challenges define him, he fought through each one with determination.

Randy was known for his kind heart, gentle and reserved nature and a stubborn streak that made him who he was. Those closest to him knew how incredibly funny he was. He had a unique way of making people laugh, often without even trying.

He showed his love through giving if someone needed something and he had it, he would give it, even when he was struggling himself.

He loved music deeply, especially every Eminem song and country rap artists such as Mini Thin, Wheeler Walker Jr., and Moonshine Bandits. He enjoyed playing his PlayStation, doing tricks in his manual wheelchair and drawing in his own unique style.

Randy had a special bond with his dog, Squirt, his best friend and constant companion who will always have a home with his daughter.

He will be remembered for the laughter he brought into a room. One cherished memory is of a night after having watched The House Bunny, as everyone was getting ready to sleep, Randy couldn’t stop laughing at the scene where the main character says, “I gotta meet this frickin bird.” He laughed so hard and for so long it made everyone laugh with him until their stomachs hurt. Another memory his daughters will always hold onto from when they were younger is how, whenever they asked him where he was going, he would always say “Florida” and they would fully believe him every time.

Randy’s greatest dream was to travel across Canada in his wheelchair. Although he was never able to complete that journey in life, his daughters will carry his dream forward honouring him by travelling across Canada and spreading his ashes.

He is survived by his daughters, Kayla and Ariana and his brother John. He was predeceased by his father, Joseph Randall Charles MacDonal, and his mother, Linda MacDonald.

Cremation will take place in accordance with his wishes.

“Just another day in paradise.”

He will be deeply missed and always remembered.
