Born in Portugal on August 2nd 1940, in Sao Marques da Serra Algarve, she moved to Amadora in her teenage years, and there she met her future husband Manuel, and were married in 1966. Later, they immigrated to Canada to create a better life for themselves. Arriving in 1967 in the winter, their first son Jose Manuel was born in September 1968, and their second son Richard was born in May 1976. Overtime, the family fostered many connections in the local Portuguese community, and their local community at large. Always quick with a smile on her face and ready to feed someone, she derived great joy at looking after her home and her family, volunteering at her local elementary school, or making time and chatting with her many friends. She also took  great joy in working at the Portuguese newspaper she founded with her husband. Becoming a pillar of strength to her family when Manuel passed away in 2010, but shortly after she began to battle dementia.

Jocelinda is survived by her two sons Jose and Richard, Stephanie; her grandchildren Nicholas, Sophia and Danielle; her two sisters in Portugal Odete and Anna Isabel and nieces and nephews Michelle, Nancy, Teresa and families.
