It is with heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of Edward Bailer on Tuesday, April 14, 2026.

Edward was predeceased by his parents, his siblings Eleanor, Albin & Clarence and his wife Linda.

He is survived by four sons, Daniel, David (Shari), Andrew and Mark (Amy), brothers Gerry (Debbie) and Terry, along with several grandchildren including Brody, Braelynn, Chloe and Daphne and many family and friends who referred to him as Uncle Ed.

Ed was happily married to Linda and together they enjoyed traveling to many Canadian and United States destinations. One of the most memorable being when they saw the Grand Canyon together. He spent his free time playing cards, doing jigsaw puzzles, doing word searches, spending time at Lilac Resort, and working on his 1929 Chevy - his pride and joy.

Ed had many professions he enjoyed and spoke of, from truck driving to driving a transit bus, to his retirement from CN as a heavy duty mechanic. His life was full of challenging roles and he excelled at each one.

He was the neighborhood mechanic and handyman. If you had a problem with your snow blower or lawnmower, Ed was your go to repairman. Often not accepting payment of any kind, as the repairs were completed out of the goodness of his heart. Despite pleas from Linda to 'at least charge for the parts'.

In his later years, Ed could be seen going for long walks with Mini, his chihuahua and when walking was no longer an option, the scooter was his preferred choice, with Mini in the front basket and even went on special outings to Birds Hill Provincial Park with his immediate family. Ed enjoyed gatherings with family and friends and always put others before himself.

Special thanks to all of the staff at Fred Douglas Lodge for their care and compassion during his tenure there.

Immediate cremation has taken place and an informal gathering at Mark and Amy's home will be arranged at a later date.
