Eulogy
Today, we gather to celebrate an extraordinary life—the life of a woman who touched countless hearts in ways that were simple, yet profoundly meaningful. An irreplaceable soul. A rare gift. A joy to know and to experience.
Helen lived a life marked by quiet purpose. She gave of herself freely, bringing hope, light, and joy to all who crossed her path.
For over 20 years, Helen served as a Registered Clinical Counsellor, offering couples counselling, mental health support, and career transition coaching to adults. She carried a brilliant and disciplined mind, completing a master’s degree in just one year—what many accomplish in two or three. Her academic journey took her from Federal Government College in Benin City, to Lagos State University, and onward to Montclair State University in New Jersey. She even explored the creative world of Hollywood, contributing to film projects. Yet, with all her accomplishments, Helen remained remarkably humble—never boastful, never arrogant, always grounded.
But beyond her intellect and achievements, Helen was joy personified.
She was incredibly funny—effortlessly so. If you spent even a short time with her, you would find yourself laughing uncontrollably, wiping tears from your eyes. And yet, she also had a serious, no-nonsense side—a side that could challenge you, stretch you, and yes, sometimes even frustrate you. She was kind, but she was firm. Sweet, but never a pushover.
Helen was an author, an educator, and a woman of global impact—teaching English as far away as Dubai. Still, her greatest legacy was not found in her accomplishments, but in her faith. She loved God deeply and worshipped Him in spirit and in truth.
Helen had so much more to give to this world, and her absence leaves a space that cannot be filled.
Dear daughter of the Most High God, today we honor you. With hearts full of gratitude, we thank God for the gift of your life. Though we will miss you dearly, we take comfort in knowing that you now stand among the great cloud of witnesses, cheering us on as we continue our race.
And so today, we do not say goodbye—we say thank you.
Thank you for the laughter that lifted us.
Thank you for the wisdom that guided us.
Thank you for the love that shaped us.
Your life was a light—and that light did not go out. It lives on in every life you touched, every heart you healed, every soul you encouraged.
So we will carry you forward.
In how we love.
In how we give.
In how we choose joy, even in the midst of sorrow.
And when we laugh a little louder, love a little deeper, and stand a little stronger—
we will know that a part of you is still with us.
Rest well, Helen.
You have run your race.
You have kept the faith.
And your legacy will speak—now and for generations to come.
