MARJORIE EVELYN MOROZ Obituary

Marjorie Evelyn Moroz

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our dear Marjorie Evelyn Moroz (Gretchen) on Monday, April 6, 2026 at the age of 81.

Marjorie will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by her beloved husband Robert of 63 years; her children Trevor and Tracy (Chad) and her three cherished grandchildren, Jorie, Wylie and Beckham as well as many other family members.  She was predeceased by her parents Walter and Kay (Hykawy) Gretchen.

Marjorie grew up in Winnipeg and was fiercely independent.  She worked as a Hairdresser and supported Robert while he returned to university, before eventually devoting herself fully to raising her family who she adored immensely.  Later, once her own children were older, she returned to part-time work including at a day care where she greatly enjoyed spending time with young children.

Soft-spoken and extremely gentle in nature, Marjorie was a deeply caring person who constantly put others before herself, and took a genuine interest in those around her. She was a wonderful listener with tremendous patience, always there when someone needed her.  She also had a great sense of humour, and her warm smile and kind spirit always led to easy conversations and lasting connections.

Her life was active and full, and her priority was always caring for her husband, children and grandchildren. She rarely missed a moment - attending countless activities, celebrations and milestones.

Her early years were busy and vibrant, filled with hobbies such as curling, ceramics, and other crafts as well as cherished time spent with friends. She shared a love for 50s music with Robert and the two of them could dance a lively jive.  Fond memories also include late night card playing with dear friends and sunny days spent at the beach with family.  She was also fortunate to travel including vacationing in Palm Springs for over 20 years with Robert, and enjoyed other trips to Florida, NYC, New Orleans, Mexico, Panorama and many other destinations near and far, creating lasting memories along the way.

She always took great joy in hosting large and bountiful family gatherings either at home or at the family cottage, a place that held a special place in her heart.  Her love (and incredible talent) for cooking and baking brought everyone together and filled her home with warmth and comfort for all.  She was also extremely proud of her Ukrainian heritage.

She had a deep love for her cottage, especially gardening, and took great pride in maintaining both the cottage and her home with exceptional care and attention to detail. Her spaces were always beautifully kept, adorned with flowers and greenery with a polish that few could replicate - a reflection of how thoughtfully she cared for both her surroundings and the people in her life.

Above all, her greatest joy was her family, including her three grandchildren who thought the world of her, and she took every chance she could to spoil them in return. She cherished every opportunity to spend time with them—sharing stories, laughter, and adventures through every season. These moments will be treasured forever.

Marjorie and Robert shared so many beautiful memories over their 63 years of marriage.  They were true partners offering one another unwavering love, support, and companionship.  Rob was Marjorie’s biggest fan and devoted nurturer and caregiver supporting her in every way.

We will miss you dearly Marjorie, Mom, Grandma.  We will hold close all the beautiful memories and find comfort in knowing you are at peace.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the doctors, nurses and home care staff along with way that care for mom, including the HSC staff during her final weeks.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Marjorie’s memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba.

Funeral Liturgy will be held at St. Joseph’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, 250 Jefferson Avenue, on Friday, April 24th, 2026 at 11:00 am followed by reception.  A private family internment will take place at a later time.
