It is with broken hearts and sadness that we announce the passing of our dearly beloved, Danny, our brother, brother-in-law, Uncle, and friend, at Selkirk Hospital, on April 4th, 2026, at the age of 64.

Left to mourn and lovingly remembered by his mother June, brothers Kenny, Darren (Jen), brother-in-law Kevin Funk (Corrine), niece Candace Smith (Keith), nephew Kyler Funk (Nicole), step- nephew Alec (Chris), many great nieces and nephews, great friend Todd Ewach, and many loving cousins.

Danny was predeceased by his father Ken Olenick in 2007 and sister Kim Funk in 2020.

Danny was born January 11th, 1962, at St. Boniface Hospital. Danny attended Luxton School, St. John’s High School and later Tec Voc High School, to join the music program. He excelled at drumming which led to him making many friends along the way. Even leading him to teach drumming at Garnet Amplifier.

Danny loved to cheer on the local Winnipeg sports teams, Winnipeg Jets and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

In 1989, Danny became a sheet metal worker at Midwest Sheet Metal, which he would later be a part owner in 2008 with his two brothers, Kenny and Darren.

Rest in peace Danny, you are forever loved and will be missed.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, April 24, 2026 at 10:00a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel (1442 Main Street).
