ROSE KOROZSI Obituary
With sad hearts we announce the passing of Rose Korozsi (nee Tkachyk) on March 24, 2026.
She was born in Vita and raised in Tolstoi, Manitoba by Katherine and Wasyl. She was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Balazs. She will be lovingly remembered by her son Bill (Denise), daughter Carolyn, as well as her treasured grandchildren, Henri (Ashley), Eric, and Stephanie, and her grand pup Hope. She had a special bond with her sister Bernice (Vince) who will miss her dearly. She also leaves behind many friends and family, notably her cousin Nancy and her loving friends, Frank and Lita.
Mom took the leap and moved to Winnipeg in the early 1960s. She worked at various places before deciding to commit to working at home, managing the day to day family obligations, while dad worked his jobs. They complimented each other well to provide the best for both of their children. Mom was very involved in her children’s activities and studies, spending her evenings taking them where they needed to go. She was such a devoted mother and always welcomed all the neighbourhood children into her home with opens arms.
Mom had goals and took training at Manitoba Institute of Trades to work in administrative roles. Once her children were grown up, she made sure to return back to school to obtain her high school diploma at the Winnipeg Adult Education Centre. We were so proud of her, and she was so proud of herself.
Mom loved being at home, but she did travel across most of Canada, to Hungary and took many bus trips with Bernice to the States and different parts of Manitoba. Her heart belonged to her childhood home, on the farm in Tolstoi where she spent many weekends visiting even after our Granny had passed. That was her happy place, being on the land.
In her younger years, Mom enjoyed going out with friends, dancing, spending time in her flower garden, listening to all sorts of music and cooking. As she got older, she and dad spent a lot of time around the kitchen table, listening to music and the news on the radio, and being his sous chef while he cooked. She loved that time with him. Occasionally, she wore the chef hat to prepare her home-made Ukrainian cuisine. She always enjoyed having a good meal with her favourite people around her, especially her grandchildren. They made her heart the happiest.
She was also devoted to her religion and enjoyed attending church services regularly, inside and outside of the city. When mobility issues slowed her down, she still listened to services either on the radio or the television. She found much comfort in God.
The family would like to thank the many people who helped care for Mom the last few years. The special souls include the staff from Home Care and Palliative Care Manitoba, the medical team from Riverview Palliative Care Unit, and the kind team at Grace Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in memory of our Rose may be made to the Grace Hospital Foundation in the name of Grace Hospice, or the rescue that brought her cherished Hope into her life, Cupcakes Pommy and Friends Rescue and Rehabilitation.
Rest peacefully, Mom! We love you!
