DAVID HARRY TOMCHUK Obituary

David Harry Tomchuk

August 16, 1953 – January 15, 2026

It is with broken hearts that the family announces the passing of our loving husband, father, grandpa, brother, uncle & friend Dave.

Dave will be lovingly remembered by his wife Wendy; his daughters Carri-Anne (Jason) Shelly (Paul) and bonus children Brian (Rhonda) Trevor (Amber) Tom and Allan. Extremely proud Grandpa to Chris, Brayden, Carter, Jackson, Joseph, Jack and Ella.

Dave will be forever missed by his siblings, Gwen (Gord) Carey, George (Marie) Robert (Brenda), sister-in-law Diane, brother-in-law Danny (Debbie) many nieces and nephews, as well as special lifelong chum Steven. He also leaves behind his two fur boys, Jack and Bear.

Dave was predeceased by his parents Harry and Victoria Tomchuk, as well as his mother-in-law Marie Edwards and father-in-law Thomas Edwards.

Dave was a proud Iron Worker for 50+ years, having jobs across Canada. He was a member of IW Local 728, joining in 1977. Over the span of his career, he was lucky enough to work with his dad and all three brothers. As you drove the city with him, he would point with pride at the buildings he worked on, explaining how and when it was done, as well as the countless stories of the time on the job.

He had many hobbies and interests that he spent his time on during his lifetime, as well as during his retirement. He loved playing crib, dice or any other game that would gather family or friends. He loved to fish, in both summer and winter. Teaching his girls at a very young age to bait a hook and clean a fish. He had a garden that he loved, sharing his crop with loved ones as well as tips for his success in always getting 100,000 tomatoes. Dave really took a passion in cooking in the later years, famous for his soups that all would enjoy as well as his head cheese, that only a select few wanted to enjoy.

Dave had a quick sense of humour, often inappropriate but always needed. He was a great storyteller. He would gain the attention of all, strangers included. If you were lucky enough to be in his presence, you knew you were going to be smiling or laughing hysterically.

Cremation has taken place; Celebration of Life will be held later this year. Details of that will be shared closer to the time.
