HELEN KROKOSH (Oczkus) Obituary

Helen (Oczkus) Krokosh

July 6, 1928 – December 10, 2025

Helen (Oczkus) Krokosh died peacefully on December 10, 2025 at the age of 97.  She will be sadly missed by her daughter, Deborah Clairmont (Rheal); son James Krokosh (Kathy); grand daughters Kristy and Michelle; grandsons Christoper (Joanne), rod (Visa), Ronnie (Linda) and Robert; 8 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

Helen was predeceased by her husband John; parents Joseph and Mary Oczkus; brother Edgar; sisters Victoria Funk (Ed) and Adeline Chaput (Ed).

Helen attended school in Lorette.  She completed grade 8 and was always good with numbers.  Even in her 80’s, when suffering from dementia, she could still add and subtract like a calculator.

Helen was a kind, generous and hard-working woman.  She loved children.  Being a mother and grandmother meant everything to her.  She loved to sew, knit, embroider and crochet – making wonderful Ninja Turtle and My Little Pony sweaters for her grandchildren.  She loved colleting owls, teacups and Old Country Rose china.  She also loved cooking and baking.  She was a perfectionist and her home was her castle.

She worked outside the home all her life.  She was a waitress, bartender and a sales clerk.

Helen was a lifetime member of St. Mary’s Polish National Catholic Church where she married John Krokosh in 1948.  Her religious beliefs carried her though many difficult times.

She was very proud of being a long-time volunteer at St. Joseph Nursing Home and St. Peter’s Seniors Group.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Fred Douglas Lodge – Oak Unit, for looking after Helen.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice in Helen’s memory.
