John Olko C.M.A, F.S.M.A.C

September 1932 - December 2025

After a brief battle with cancer John took his last breath on December 22, 2025 at St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 93 years.

He was predeceased by his parents and two brothers.  John is lovingly remembered by his wife of 71 years Helen, his daughter Paula (Fred), and son Robert (Tamara).  He also leaves two sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews.

John was born and raised in Winnipeg and graduated from Isaac Newton.  He married Helen in 1954.  He worked at Winnipeg Electric and then moved over to Manitoba Hydro.  He retired from Hydro in 1989 as the Manager of Corporate Disbursements.

John also taught for the C.M.A. program at the University of Manitoba for many years lecturing, setting and marking exams. After retirement he continued to use his accounting skills helping Catholic parishes in the province.

John enjoyed golfing as a member with Helen at Teulon for over 20 years. He loved fishing and spending time with Helen and family at Pistol Lake.

The family would like to thank the WRHA Palliative Unit for all their care in the last months especially nurse Angela.

A funeral mass will be held on December 30, 2025 at 11:00 am at St. Anthony of Padua Parish, 250 Burrin Avenue in Winnipeg with Father Dominic Yuen presiding.  Private interment will follow at Green Acres Cemetery.
