DENIS GARRY DESJARLAIS
March 1, 1954 - December 12, 2025
Denis passed away peacefully, on December 12, 2025 at St. Boniface Hospital, after a lengthy illness, at the age of 71 years.
He was predeceased by his parents Douglas and Angeline Desjarlais, his son Robert Desjarlais, his stepsons Calvin Singh, and Scott Singh, his granddaughters Jerilyn and Kaitlyn, his sister Yvette Daniels, and his brother Harvey Desjarlais.
Denis “Garry” is lovingly remembered by his wife Jean, of 22 years; sons Terry Francis (Candace) and Kelvin Watson; grandchildren Camille, Kobe, Terryn, Alicia, Aaliyah, Bo, Larissa and her fiancé of Kenora, Ashley (Henry) of Marchand and his mother-in-law Jenny Lusanko who resides at Holy Family Home.
He also leaves his brothers Edward Desjarlais of Winnipeg, Mike Desjarlais (Vange) of Victoria; sisters Alinda Lush (Keith) of Victoria, Wilma Pilon (Laurier) of Timmons, Darryl Desjarlais of Sandy Bay and Jason Desjarlais of Winnipeg; sister-in-law Pauline (Mike) of Mountain; and brother-in-law Rob Plouffe of Winnipeg.
Also, remembered by nieces Eva (Dion) of Winnipeg; Erin (Nick) of Ottawa; nephew Cameron (Sara) of St. Pascal-Baylon; numerous grandnieces and grandnephews; a great-grandchild, and family friend Krista Hart.
Denis Garry was born and raised in Sandy Bay, Manitoba and was a Residential School survivor. Jean and Denis met and married in 2003. They enjoyed many years as a family on Toronto and Dufferin Streets with their dog Shelby. Denis was a great sports fan, especially wrestling and Winnipeg Jets hockey.
The family especially thanks St. Boniface Hospital for their care. Also, thank you to Sandy Bay Ojibway First Nation.
A funeral service will be held at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 18, 2025 with Visitation starting one hour prior. Cremation to follow, with interment at Brookside Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 19, 2025.
If friends desire, donations can be made in Denis’ name to The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, Diabetes Canada, or Harvest Manitoba.
Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace. Amen.
