MARIANNE GERTRUDE PURCHA

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our Mom, Grandma and Great Grandma Marianne on November 17, 2025 at the age of 94.

Marianne was predeceased by her husband Walter “Perky”, her mother Anne, her father Nick and her four siblings. Marianne is survived by her daughter Anna (Wayne), son Jim (Julie-Ann) and son Stephen. She is also survived by her five grandchildren, six great grandchildren, sister-in-law Sally and numerous nieces and nephews.

Marianne was born in Winnipeg Manitoba and spent her childhood in Garson. After completing school Marianne returned to Winnipeg, where she met her husband Walter. They married and remained in Winnipeg to raise their family.

A devout Catholic, Marianne met many of her closest friends through the church. She loved to sing and participated in the St. Bernadette Parish choir as well as the Sisters of the Holy Rock Chorus. Marianne was an active member in her community and volunteered with both the Cancer Society and the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Additionally, she was a member of the St. Francis Mission Circle and the Red Hat Society.

Marianne was a kind, caring and compassionate woman who always made time for others. She had a no nonsense attitude and was known for speaking her mind and offering an opinion or two. She was a wonderful cook and hostess and very much enjoyed entertaining at both her home in the city and her cottage at the lake. Marianne also loved gardening and traveling but her greatest joy was the ability to spend time with her family.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff at Vista Park Lodge for their compassion and care given to Marianne.

As per Marianne’s wishes there will be no formal service.
