VICTORIA CRUZ Obituary

VICTORIA CRUZ

Victoria was predeceased by her parents, Manuel Egonia and Olimpia Corteza; her brothers Hermogenes, Bartolome, Celestino, and Antonio; and her sisters Ciriaca and Leticia. She is lovingly remembered by her daughter Lindsay (Chad) and their children Asha and Mia; her daughter Geraldine (Brett) and their children Isabelle and Leland. She is also survived by her sister, Isabel Egonia.

Victoria immigrated to Canada in April 1974. She began her career as a spray painter at Diecast before working as an industrial sewing machine operator at Bonar and later Endurapak Inc., where she remained until her retirement in 2006. A gifted seamstress, she created exquisite dresses for weddings, cotillions, her daughter’s wedding, and her grandchild’s graduation. Her artistry and generosity touched many lives.

She was always eager to lend a hand and delighted those around her with animated stories of her day. Victoria cherished time with friends, whether playing bingo, dancing, or visiting the casino. Above all, her family was her greatest joy. She adored her grandchildren and would do anything for them. Her pancit was legendary, and to this day, Lindsay and Geraldine have yet to uncover the secret that made it uniquely hers.

Victoria faced life’s challenges with resilience. Diagnosed with lung cancer in 2023, she bravely endured surgery and enjoyed nearly two years of remission. When the cancer later spread to her spine, she met radiation with courage and determination. She fought valiantly until the end, passing peacefully, surrounded by her family and loved ones.

We are profoundly grateful for the memories she gave us and the love she poured into our lives. Mom, we will carry your laughter, strength, and love with us always. Thank you for everything. We love you and miss you deeply.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to CancerCare Manitoba and Riverview Health Centre staff for their compassion and care.
