ANNA FICKO Obituary

ANNA FICKO

June 21, 1928 – Nov. 27, 2025

Anna Ficko (née Schadl) was born on June 21, 1928, in the small Slovenian town of Gerinci to her parents, Franciska and Jurig Schadl. She grew up alongside her beloved siblings, brother Franc and sister Franciska.

Anna married Ludvik Ficko in Austria, and together they began a new chapter when they immigrated to Canada in 1957. They built a loving life in Winnipeg and were blessed with two children, Majda and Joe, and later four cherished grandchildren: Kyle, Demitri, Paris, and Ryker.

Anna worked for many years at a Winnipeg clothing manufacturer, where she sewed leather and fur coats until her retirement. Her talents extended well beyond her work—she was an avid gardener, a gifted baker who delighted her grandchildren with special treats, and an accomplished needlepoint artist.

Anna was also a proud and active member of the Canadian Women’s League, contributing her time to Folklorama and many other cultural celebrations. Her spirit, generosity, and love for her heritage touched everyone who knew her.

Anna will be remembered for her warmth, her strength, and the joy she brought to her family and community.

Funeral mass will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 95 McDonald Ave., Winnipeg, MB.
