ANNE MARIE SHYMKO Obituary

Anne Shymko passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 16, 2025 at Grace Hospital, at the age of 90


years.


She was predeceased by her husband, Frank, as well as numerous brothers, sisters, in-laws, nephews


and nieces.


 


Anne is lovingly remembered by her children, Gordon (Christina) and Barbara Wilson (Chester);


grandchildren, Mallory and Demaris; and great-grandchildren, Jasper and Lincoln.


She also leaves brothers, Bobby and Larry; sisters, Sylvia, Nancy, and Elsie; and numerous nieces and


nephews. As the second oldest of 11 children, Anne helped many of her siblings during their lives, and


helped raise her granddaughters when her daughter fought many years of illness.


 


Anne was raised on a farm near Stuartburn, Manitoba. She came to Winnipeg and attended Teacher’s


College and served as a teacher for many years at Lord Nelson Elementary School.


Anne enjoyed many years with her husband, Frank, before his passing in 2015.


 


The family especially thanks the staff at River Ridge and River Ridge II Retirement Residences including


but not limited to, Chassity, Raoul, Lisa, and Kim. The family is eternally grateful for the consideration


and care that was extended to Anne during some very difficult times. The family also wishes to thank the


staff at Grace Hospital for the care afforded to Anne prior to her passing.


 


A Funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Josheph’s Ukrainian


Catholic Church, 250 Jefferson Avenue, with Father John Sianchuk presiding. A reception will follow at


Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street, as well as interment at All Saint’s Cemetery, 4535 Main Street.


 


If friends so desire, donations may be made to The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
