It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our Alla Dziubenko, peacefully on Nov 13, 2025 in Selkirk, Manitoba, surrounded by love.
Alla was born and raised in Kyiv, Ukraine, where she dedicated many years to a meaningful and fulfilling career as an English teacher. Her passion for language and education touched the lives of countless students, many of whom remember her for her kindness, patience, and unwavering encouragement.
In 2023, Alla made the courageous decision to come to Canada to stay with her sister, Lina and brother-in-law, Jurij, seeking safety and peace after the outbreak of war in Ukraine. Unfortunately, Alla was faced with another battle, a diagnosis of cancer, which she confronted with remarkable bravery and positivity. Her resilience and gentle spirit left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her. Drawing upon her lifelong teaching experience, Alla generously used her English skills to help fellow Ukrainian newcomers adjust and learn the language, always eager to share her knowledge and support others in their journey.
Alla was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Dina and Stepan. She is lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her devoted son, Yevhenii, her dear sister Lina (Jurij), and extended family and friends both in Canada and Ukraine.
Prayers will take place Friday, November 21, 2025 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. A Funeral Mass will take place Saturday, November 22, 2025 at 9:30 a.m. at Holy Trinity Cthedral, 1175 Main Street.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the dedicated staff at Selkirk Regional Hospital, and CancerCare Manitoba for their exceptional compassion, care, and support during Alla’s illness.
Special acknowledgement for the friendship, kindness, understanding, and most importantly the spirituality shown by Fathers’ Gene Maximiuk, Roman Bozyk, and Vasyl Wasyliw.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Alla’s memory may be made to St Andrews College, University of Manitoba, Winnipeg (https://umanitoba.ca/st-andrews-college/) to continue her legacy of kindness and helping others. Alla will be remembered for her warmth, courage, and the light she brought to every life she touched.
