GREGORY NELS ANDERSON Obituary

GREGORY NELS ANDERSON

May 12, 1955 - November 11, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Gregory Nels Anderson announce his passing on November 11, 2025, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, at the age of 70. Greg was born on May 12, 1955, in Winnipeg, and he was particularly proud of his Métis, Lebanese, and Scottish heritage, and equally as proud of his long-standing connection to the settlement of Victoria Beach, through his family history.

Greg lived in Winnipeg for most of his life, spending many summers out at the family cottages in Victoria Beach, and later fulfilled his dream of buying a cabin, when he moved to the Island Beach community of Beaconia, Manitoba, just before his retirement. Throughout his life, Greg dedicated himself to his work as a Miller, a role he held with pride and commitment for many years.

Beyond his career, Greg was deeply engaged in the online community, where he was known for his unwavering passion for equal rights and activism. He established a welcoming space for many through the Caffeinated Islanders, where he brought people together with warmth, humour, and genuine care.

Greg was above all a family man. He took immense pride in being a dedicated father to his children, Colin Anderson (Danielle Hodson) and Brent Anderson, and a devoted grandfather to Carter Hodson, who brought him great joy in life.

He is lovingly remembered by his brother, Clifford Walter Anderson (Marilyn), and brother-in-law Gary Wasylnuk (Wendy); niece and nephews, Derek Pearase (Karla), Clifford Anderson, Casandra Woolever, Ryan Clarke, Mitchell Wasylnuk, and Mason Wasylnuk; as well as many extended family members and friends who will cherish his memory. Greg was predeceased by his parents, Ivy Anderson (née Joseph) and Walter Anderson, and several uncles, aunts, and cousins.

Greg will be remembered for his infectious laugh, his level-headedness (with everyone except his sons), and his stubborn determination – traits that made him the heart of many conversations and gatherings. His presence lit up every room, and his kindness and strength will continue to inspire those who knew him. Greg is now at peace with Silver, Jasper, and his beloved mother Ivy.

A funeral service to celebrate Greg’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, November 21, 2025 at Cropo Funeral Chapel (1442 Main Street, Winnipeg, MB), with a viewing period immediately beforehand, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Family and friends are invited to attend the service and share memories of a life so well lived. In lieu of flowers, please consider sending a donation to The Heart And Stroke Foundation, in loving memory of Greg.
