Hermin “Harvey” Lysack
March 5, 1940 – October 31, 2025
After living a life full of love, laughter, and faith, Hermin “Harvey” Lysack passed away peacefully on October 31. Harvey took his final breaths with his wife and children at his side, their prayers and farewells guiding him as he went to be with the Lord and the loved ones waiting for him.
It didn’t matter if you knew him as Harvey, Uncle Harvey, a friendly face in the community or perhaps Grandpa, there was always one way to know if he loved you or not. It was simple…the more he bugged you and teased you, the more he loved you.
So you can only imagine how much teasing his wife Nancy, his children Darrin (Maria), Brian (Christie), Audrey (Al), and David (Deena); his grandchildren, Tanner (Irlanda), Anders (Vanessa), Andrew (Teylor), Kai (Lianne), Annie, Mollie, and Paige; and his great-grandchildren, Alexis and A.J. received over the years.
Harvey had plenty of teasing to spare for those surviving him too, including his sister Ruth Peluk; brother-in-law, Bob Zaporzan (Lee); sister-in-law Loraine Lysak (Bob); and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
He was predeceased by his parents, Harry and Helen Lysak; brother, Jack Lysak; brother-in-law, Gerald Peluk; sister-in-law, Luba (Walter) Dolinski; and grandson, Justin Lysack.
Harvey was born in Brokenhead, Manitoba, on March 5, 1940. Growing up on what his family now calls “The Farm,” Harvey’s early life was full of hard work, love, and walking to school in a foot of snow, uphill both ways, the reality of which still confuses his grandkids.
Despite the nearly impossible journey, Harvey made his way through Rattray School, Ladywood School, Isaac Newton School and Sisler High School.
He met the love of his life, Nancy, in 1958, and they were married in 1961 — beginning a beautiful partnership that spanned more than six decades. The two loved each other through life’s highs and lows (and it must have been love with all the head cheese he enjoyed).
Harvey held many jobs over the years, but in 1996 he retired from Eaton’s, after more than 25 years of dedicated service. You better believe he never looked back. Harvey enjoyed his retirement to the fullest, spending time with his grandkids, going for a round of golf, hitting the curling club, spinning his wife around at square dancing, getting a turkey at bowling, hitting the casino, heading out to fish, volunteering with St. Peter’s Church Men’s Club and more.
Harvey travelled the world with Nancy and their children and made more than a few last-minute trips to see friends across Canada or from their days camping at Blue Lake.
Harvey will be missed by everyone who had the opportunity to meet him and be on the receiving end of his (jokes) love.
Harvey's family sends their heartfelt thanks to the Grace Hospital doctors, nurses, and staff who watched over him with care, wisdom and grace.
