Eugenie Florence Wazny (Nieroda)

June 08, 1930 — October 22, 2025

Peacefully on October 22, 2025, with her family by her side, Eugenie, age 95, entered into eternal rest with the Lord.

Mom will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her daughters Denise Wazny, Sandra (Jim) Hendrickson and Charlene (Kevin) Wazny; grandchildren Nicole (Owen), Brett and Matthew Hendrickson.

Eugenie was predeceased by her beloved husband Joseph Wazny; her parents Edward and Mary Nieroda (Obirek); her sister Emilie (Joseph) Kernoski; her brother Aloysius (Carol) Nieroda and sister Eleanor (Theodore) Klapecki. She leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

Born and raised in East Kildonan, Winnipeg, Manitoba. Eugenie grew up surrounded by faith, family and a strong sense of community. She met and married Joseph and together they spent 47 wonderful years building a life filled with love, laughter and devotion until his passing in 2011.

Throughout her life, Eugenie devoted herself wholeheartedly to her family. She poured her heart into raising three daughters, nurturing their dreams and creating a home that was the heart of the family. She found joy in life’s simple pleasures—preparing home-cooked meals, hosting family celebrations, offering a listening ear and spending time with those she loved most. A talented and creative woman, she was an accomplished seamstress whose beautiful creations never failed to impress. She could knit, crochet and sew with remarkable skill. But her talents didn’t end there—Eugenie was equally handy around the house, able to tackle repairs, paint with precision and stretch a dollar with ease, all while maintaining an immaculate and beautifully organized home.

The arrival of her grandchildren brought her immense joy.  She developed a unique and lasting bond with each of them; a connection beautifully reflected in the deep love and respect they held for her.

Mom was known for her gentle spirit, her unwavering faith and her kindness toward all. Her strength, grace and generosity of heart touched many lives and will be remembered always.

The family would like to extend sincere gratitude to the staff at St. Boniface Hospital and Home Care for their compassion and continued support.

A celebration of Eugenie’s life will be held Wednesday, November 05, 2025 at 11:30 a.m. at Holy Redeemer Parish, 264 Donwood Dr.  Following a reception, interment will be at Holy Ghost Cemetery.

If friends so desire, donations can be made to a charity of one’s choice.
