John Gancarz

April 11, 1952 – October 27, 2025

It is with heavy hearts the family announces that John Gancarz, age 73 years, passed away at St. Boniface Hospital. 

John was predeceased by his mother Stefie Gancarz and his father Stanley Gancarz. He will be remembered by his brother, Brian (Ana); niece Traci (Jose) and their daughter Emily; nephew Adam Gancarz and his daughter Jacquline and family; longtime friend, Bill Lee; as well as many cousins.

John grew up in the North End of Winnipeg where he attended David Livingston Aberdeen and Tec-Voc. Graduating from Tec-Voc and becoming a welder, he worked for many welding companies.  He worked for Fort Garry Fire Trucks where he retired after 25 years.

John was a quiet person, lived a simple life, enjoyed time at Bill’s trailer, fishing and the outdoors. Most of all, he loved dogs, especially his dog Max. 

In the last few years, his health deteriorated and he was placed in River East Care Home.  The family would like to thank the staff and all who took care of him during his stay. In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no formal service.
