With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather and friend, Naster Mikal Kostiuk, who peacefully passed away on October 27, 2025 at the age of 75.

Born on June 29, 1950, in Kelowna, BC., Naster was the son of Bertha and Metro Kostiuk.

Naster moved to Winnipeg at a young age and eventually found the love of his life, Lorna. They were married for 45 years having 4 children and two grandchildren which they got to raise as their own. They cherished and loved Alyssa and Meadow so very deeply and raised them to become kind and gentle wonderful young adults with goals and ambition.

Naster worked as a painter in his early years, running his own business by supporting his family and then worked at a paper mill outside of the city driving back and forth.  He then finally found an incredible place of employment with Pro Mat, in charge of running their machines and washing mats, where he worked for about 20-30 years.

Naster was a pillar of strength, guidance and unconditional love. He taught us the value of hard work, integrity and kindness and was always there with a listening ear or a shoulder to lean on. His love for his family knew no bounds and he took great pride in his role as a father and grandfather.

Naster is survived by his children Cheryl and Trenton Kostiuk, his grandchildren Meadow and Alyssa Kostiuk and many other family members and friends.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife Lorna Kostiuk, his daughter Robyn Kostiuk, his son Curtis Kostiuk and numerous other loved ones. 

Naster’s health started to deteriorate at the beginning of this year, which over took his life.

In his passing, he leaves behind a family who will cherish his memory forever. We take comfort in knowing that his legacy of love, warmth and wisdom will continue to guide us through the years.

A graveside service will be held at Brookside Cemetery on Monday, November 3rd, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. Naster will be cremated and buried beside his wife Lorna, as he wished to be.

We would like to thank the staff at St. Boniface Hospital 5E for their care they provided to Naster.   They cared for him with compassion, dignity, respect and kindness.  From the bottom of our hearts, we are so grateful and thankful.
