PAULINE MARGARET KOSOWAN Obituary

Pauline Kosowan (née Bially) passed away peacefully with family by her side on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at Concordia Hospital at the age of 92.

Pauline was predeceased by her loving husband William Peter Kosowan; her parents, Peter, and Margaret and her five brothers; Nestor (survived by Nancy), Henry (survived by Helen), Frank (survived by Elsie), Harry, and Jackie; and three sisters, Molly (Steve), Mary (Steve), and Ann.

Pauline will be deeply missed by her sisters, Rose (John) and Bernice (Terry); her five children Rick (Sandi), Sandra (Edwin), Donna (Joel), Gloria (Garfield) and Gladys (Bruce); her eleven grandchildren, Joy (Jerett), Melissa (Derick), Chrystalle (Jay), Justin, Samantha (Roydon), Rebecca (Darius), Joseph (Leia), Serena (Zach), Desai (Magie), Tyrell, Brandon, and three great-grandchildren; Xavier, Keanu, Talilah.

She was born on September 11, 1933, in the town of Overstoneville, Manitoba. She was raised on the family farm and as a young woman this is where she also met and then married the love of her life William (Bill) and shortly after they moved to Winnipeg to start their family. She worked at Eaton’s for a time, but as she grew her family, she and Bill made the decision she would stay home with the children. As the children grew older, she started working for Avon and this gave her the flexibility to still be with her family. With Avon she received many awards for excellence and top sales, she had a natural gift working with people. She also worked for the Manitoba Health Services as a Home Support Worker and retired in 1998. She loved listening to the “The Zabava Hour” on the weekends and Sunday morning church service as well gardening, and had the most beautiful flower gardens and plants. She enjoyed cooking and often made everything from scratch. She also loved the meals and snacks the family often brought over during visits. Pauline’s family would lovingly call her a “foodie.” She especially loved spending time with her family, visits in Kelowna with her youngest daughter, or adventuring in and around Winnipeg with her children and grandchildren.

There was never a shortage of moments where everyone came together around her — she was generous with her wisdom, filled our lives with fond memories, and was always ready with support, gentle guidance, and an abundance of love and care. She had a wonderful, silly, sense of humor and lit up every room she walked into.

The family would like to thank the staff at Concordia Hospital for their compassion and care of their mother/baba. As well as the clinic nurses, lab technicians, Dr. Lin Yang at Cancer Care, the phenomenal care by her family doctor, Dr. Henrichs and the staff at River Ridge.

A Funeral Service and Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday October 30, 2025, at 10:00 am at Cropo Funeral Chapel 1442 Main Street, Winnipeg MB with Pastor Murray Gibson officiating.  Interment will be at Holy Family Cemetery, 4355 Main Street.

Family and friends are invited to attend.
