JOSE ARMANDO CABRAL FREITAS

Jose Armando Cabral Freitas, 65, born on March 19, 1960, in Santa Maria, Azores, Portugal, passed away on October 17, 2025, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, surrounded by his loving family.

Jose moved to Winnipeg in August of 1990, where he built a wonderful life with his family. He worked for Bituminex Paving for over two decades, where he met many great people and took pride in the work he did. Jose truly lived to work — he found both purpose and joy in his job and the friendships he made along the way.

He will be remembered for his love of Saturday Sueca card games with family and close friends. He cherished his weekends at the cabin with his children and grandchildren. Jose also loved traveling with his wife and creating lasting memories together.

Jose is survived by his devoted wife, Ana Isabel Freitas, and his children: Carla (Wayne) and her daughter's Bella and Aria; Debora (Shane) and their children Dante, Tristian, and Tatyana; and Bruno (Meghan) and their sons Damien and Lukas. He is also survived by his siblings Gilda (Antonio), Ana, Antonio (Eduarda), Luis (Maria), and Nuno (Paula), along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

He was predeceased by his beloved parents, Maria Helena Cabral Freitas and Antonio Soares Freitas, as well as his dear brothers and sister Guilherme, Bento, Vitor, Daniel, João and Cidalia, and many other loved ones he held close in his heart.

The family would like to extend a special thank-you to his cousins Essie Sousa (Adam), Guida (Bob), and Mario for their care, love, and support throughout Jose’s cancer journey.

Jose will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his hard work, generous heart, and devotion to family.

Jose’s Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 24, 2025 at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street, with viewing starting at 12:00 p.m.  An interment will follow in St. Mary’s Polish National Cemetery, 360 McIvor Avenue.
