Melissa Sonia Russell
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Melissa Sonia Russell.
She is survived by her loving husband Josh and two sons Ethan and Odin. As well as parents Kevin and Betty Russell, brother Donavan, sisters Cassandra and Sabrina. She is also remembered by her vast extended family and friends.
She grew up in Transcona. Was a member of the East End Red Wings softball team. Educated at all the neighboring schools from Wayoata to Murdoch MacKay (small stint at KE for Cosmetology) followed by Horizon Adult learning center to complete her High School and CDI college for addictions counseling (Grad 2017).
She spent a number of years working at Ndinawe Youth Resource Center caring for Indigenous youth before health issues forced her to stop.
Melissa and Josh were always together living life for each other. They enjoyed going for long rides in the country and Sunday cruises. Even in Josh’s cube truck even though it was scary it was always worth the time spent together.
Melissa loved family, she always made time for special occasions. She had a knack for finding the right gifts for Birthdays and Christmas. She had a huge love for music such as the Pogues and Social Distortion. She loved her crime documentary series, and collecting skull art and Marilyn Munroe memorabilia.
A big part of her life was her fur babies Mira, Grumpy Benny, Ghremi-Hemi, the cats and her spirit guide crows that always left her gifts.
She will be missed deeply but forever in our hearts.
A small intimate, private funeral service will be held on Friday, October 31 at 10:00a.m.for only Family and close friends, at Cropo Funeral Chapel in Transcona (1800 Day Street).
