Marguerite passed away on Friday, September 27, 2025. 

Marguerite is predeceased by husbands Edward Zastre, Rolf Hofstaetter and son Fred Zastre.  She is survived by five children, four grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

She was an “outdoor girl” from the onset.  Her parents bought a cottage at Victoria Beach in the early 1920’s and so began her love of the outdoors.  She fished, hiked, picked berries and mushrooms and took walks in the forest.  Margurite was athletic, participating in swim and skiing competitions and she loved animals. Our family always had a few pets.

Marguerite was a single mother most of her life so she supplemented her long-time employment with CN railway by selling Avon and Regal in the evenings.

In her later years she travelled a bit but was particularly fond of Bingo and casino outings with her friends.  She was healthy and vigorous until the last few years.  She is at peace now.
