GERARDO FRANCISCO DE GUZMAN, SR.

March 26, 1946 – July 30, 2025

Mr. Gerardo ‘Rudy’ Francisco De Guzman, Sr, age 79 passed away early morning of Wednesday, July 30, 2025 at his son’s residence. (Gerry De Guzman).

He was born March 26, 1946 in San Rafael, Bulacan, son of the late Artemio and Leogarda De Guzman.

Tatay Rudy was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Zenaida De Guzman, two sons, Gerardo Jr ‘Gerry’ (Canada) and Jay (Ireland), one daughter, Geraldine (Philippines); 12 grandchildren, Alexander, Dianne, Mark, SJ, Iris, AJ, John Gerry, Janica, Carlo, Jayne, Josh & Kyla; two brothers, Bayani & Edmundo; and two sisters, Fely & Zeny.       

Tatay Rudy is predeceased by his parents; his firstborn son Ferdinand (Canada) and his youngest daughter Cynthia (Philippines); and brother, Alfredo.

He’s a member of the Iglesia ni Cristo (Church of Christ) religious organization and a former tailor.  He enjoyed watching sports event like boxing, travelling and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He migrated to Canada last February 2023 under his son Gerry’s sponsorship.

Tatay Rudy is survived by his son Gerardo Jr ‘Gerry’ of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada; daughter Geraldine – Laguna, Philippines; and son Jay – Dublin, Ireland; and 12 grandchildren & 4 great grandchildren, Nathaniel, Sofia, Selena and Grey.

Funeral service will be held on Sunday, August 3, 2025 starting at 5:00pm at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street.

Interment will be on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, 2pm at Brookside Cemetery, 3001 Notre Dame Avenue.
