LORNA JANET PRESCOTT

Lorna Janet Prescott passed away on August 31, 2025 at the Maples Personal Care Home, at the age of 86 years.

She was predeceased by her parents, Mary and John Prescott; sisters, Carolyn Hample and Judith Flynn; niece, Victoria Prescott; nephew, Benjamin Flynn and grandnephew Wyatt Colnett.

Lorna is survived by daughter, Sharon Stimpson (Danny); son, Michael Sutton; grandchild, Robin Stimpson; sister, Joan Colnett (Russel); brother Thomas (Lorraine); brother-in-law, Peter Flynn, as well as, numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Lorna was born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba, living most of her life in West Kildonan.

Lorna completed a Bachelor of Arts at the University of Manitoba, St. John’s College in 1959. In addition to raising a family, Lorna worked as a legal assistant for the firm Thompson, Dorfman, Sweatman and held clerical positions with the Corporations Branch of the provincial government and the Anglican Diocese of Rupert’s Land.

Lorna had a lifelong love of reading and enjoyed classical music. During her youth, Lorna was active in Irish dancing and took piano lessons.  Later, she would become quite accomplished at sewing and made many outfits for herself and family members. Lorna was artistic and this could be seen in hobbies such as doll making and wood carving. She loved spending time at her sister’s cottage in Victoria Beach and would willingly lend a hand with various maintenance and construction projects. For many years Lorna was also an active member of St. Anne’s Anglican Church and sang alto in the church choir.

Family would especially like to thank the following for their support: Dr. B.M. Cremation has taken place. Interment of Lorna’s ashes and memorial will be announced.
