HENRY BORGARDT

July 20, 1924 – August 29, 2025

Henry departed this life on Friday, August 29, 2025 at the age of 101, to be in the Church Triumphant. He was born in Dammholm, Schleswig, Germany on July 20, 1924.

At an early age Henry was brought to the Lord with Christian Baptism in Germany. 

The family immigrated to Canada in 1927, settling in Beiseker, Alberta. 

Henry leaves to mourn his beloved wife Gertie (nee Bretz) of 68 years; a son Aaron (Karen) along with their children Kirby, Victoria and Daniel; great grandchildren Kasen, Zachary and Jesse in Winnipeg, MB; a daughter Elizabeth (David) Swenson and their son Tanner in Osoyoos, BC.

In addition, he leaves to mourn a brother Al (Helga); sisters Frieda Boettcher and Mary Tetz; brothers-in-law Phil (Pearl) and Ernie Bretz; sisters-in-law Eleanor Klein and Ida Carlson; as well as nephews, nieces, dear friends and neighbors, who all have fond memories to cherish. 

Henry was predeceased by his parents; three sisters and two brothers in infancy. 

As a Lutheran clergyman he served faithfully, parishes in Rhein, Winnipeg, Medicine Hat and Regina. Following his retirement in 1990, it delighted Henry to continue to serve vacant parishes, 

The family would like to thank all of his neighbors in Regina; in particular Dorothy and Allen, Lorie and Darren and Wayne, who over the years became family. The family also would like to thank the The Westhaven Retirement Home in Winnipeg, as well as Oakview Nursing Home in Winnipeg for all their care and compassion with Dad over the last year. 

In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to Luther College in Regina, SK in Henry’s memory.

A Service of Remembrance will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina SK, on Wednesday, September 10, 2025 at 10:00 a.m.  Interment to follow at Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery, Regina, SK.

Reception to follow the interment at Speers Funeral Home.
