Phyllis A. Paciorka (nee Merriman)

June 25, 1930 – August 17, 2025

After being blessed with a long life, Phyllis passed away on Sunday, August 17, 2025 at the age of 95.

Phyllis is survived by her sister Beatrice and brothers Ronald and Leslie, all of Saskatchewan, along with many nieces and nephews in Saskatchewan and across Canada.

She was predeceased by her husband Maurice; parents Arthur & Laura Merriman; baby sister Laura in infancy; brother Ardis and sister Gwen.

Phyllis was born in Springside, Saskatchewan to Arthur and Laura Merriman.

She started her life growing up on the family farm along with her five siblings. Phyllis went on to start her education and career which included nursing school and working at Theodore Hospital, teachers’ college in Moose Jaw and finally working in the bank.  Phyllis relocated to Winnipeg to continue her career in banking at the Bank of Montreal and spent the rest of her life in Winnipeg after marrying Maurice in 1966.

They spent many wonderful years together in Transcona and their cottage at Beaconia until his passing in 2000.

Although she had no children, she was “Auntie Phyllis” to many nieces and nephews.

In her younger years she was our confidant, our advisor and invaluable in providing cooking, baking and gardening advice along with helping us navigate through life. She loved to travel and was adventurous with a fondness for singing and spending time reading her bible in her later years.

The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff at River Park Gardens in Winnipeg for the loving care Phyllis received.

Funeral service will be on Wednesday, August 27, 2025 at 11:00 am, with viewing half hour prior at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1800 Day Street in Transcona. Interment will be at Transcona City Cemetery, 5014 Dugald Road.
