SANDRA JOAN JACK Obituary

SANDRA JOAN JACK

(nee Baxter)

April 1, 1954 – July 13, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved and cherished Mom, Grandma, Great Grandma, Sister, Aunt and friend, Sandra Joan Jack (Baxter) on Sunday, July 13, 2025 at the age of 71 years.

Sandra was predeceased by her father Reg Baxter; mother Joan Baxter, sister Janice Baxter; brother Alan Baxter; sister-in-law Donna Baxter and sister-in-law Wendy Baxter.

Sandra will be lovingly cherished by her children Greg (Jocelyn) and Colleen (Corey); grandchildren Dean (Jazmin), Bradley, Christy, Tanner, Emma (Morgan) and Ryan (Paytin); great grandchildren Madison and Mylah, her brothers Geoff (Barb), Jim (Bonnie), and Bruce, as well as many nieces and nephews. Sandra will be remembered by her best friend Sharon Pruden; ex-husband Robert Jack; ex-son-in-law Dane Loder; ex-daughter-in-law Cortney Spearman and dear friend Shannon Bland.

Sandra was born April 1, 1954 in Hamiota, Manitoba to Reg and Joan Baxter.  She spent a short time on the family farm in Decker, Manitoba before Reg and Joan moved their family to the town of Transcona, Manitoba in the summer of 1959.

Sandra attended her school years in Transcona starting at Westview School, John W. Gunn Middle School and then finishing her school days at Transcona Collegiate.  Sandra had a compassionate and caring heart which only made sense that she pursued a career in health care working as a nursing assistant (HCA).  Sandra began her working years at Central Park Lodge, Bethania Nursing Home and then at Beacon Hill Lodge.  In the late 80’s Sandra made a decision to put her career on hold to be home for her family.  But Sandra still had a passion to care for people so she opened a home day care.  Through those years, the day care kids brought her so much joy and love.  In 1993, mom made a choice to close the day care and return to health care.  Sandra took a position at River East PHC.  She also worked at Lions Manor and back at Beacon Hill Lodge before retiring in 2019.

Sandra married Rob on August 25, 1973.  They had two beautiful children from that marriage.  Gregory Robert – 1977 and Colleen Lynn – 1978.  Mom was very proud of both her children and loved them unconditionally.

Sandra was a loving and supportive mom.  Always there to listen and help guide us through our lives.  We always knew mom was our biggest supporter, the one person who could make all our bad days better, the one person that always had our back whatever the situation.  As we grew and started families of our own, mom found a deeper love for life when she became a grandma in December or 1997 and the blessings continued for her, welcoming a total of 5 wonderful grand children.  She was a very proud grandma.  Always bragging about the kids and all their accomplishments to anyone who would listen.  In June of 2020, mom welcomed the birth of her first great grand daughter Madison Bree and then again in August of 2023, Mylah Grace was born. She loved all her grand children dearly, sharing a special bond with each of them.

Sandra enjoyed family time in Patrica Beach at the cabin that Rob and her purchased shortly after they married.  Summers were spent making memories and sharing lots of laughs.  The cabin held a lot of special memories for mom.  Remembering special times spent with loved ones that were no longer with us. Mom enjoyed spending time down at the lake with the kids playing in the water or simply just sitting on the beach.  Time spent together was all that mattered to her.  Mom also enjoyed her time at home in her yard.  It was the simple things like freshly cut grass, to the flowers that would bloom again in the spring or to just enjoy a cup of coffee on the deck.  The simple things mattered to her.

Mom’s love and compassion for her family continued to show when she took her mother into her home to care for her as she aged. Sandra refused to put her mom in a care home to live out her life. Mom always did what she thought was best for the ones she loved.  She stayed by her mom’s side as she left us to be with the loved ones on the other side.

Mom had many health struggles over the years, but she fought every battle head on, never giving up.  Mom’s health started to decline over the last year and even though she fought hard, she grew tired.

On Sunday, July 13, 2025, with her family by her side, we reluctantly said good-bye to our fighter and hero, our mom and grandma.

Our mother was truly one of a kind, with a sense of humor that kept us on our toes.  A smile that could light up a room and a laugh that would fill your heart with love and a heart that was pure gold that will be forever missed.

Mom, we miss you more than anyone can truly understand, but we will hold your love and memory close in our hearts forever.

A memorial service for Sandra will take place Friday, September 12 at 1:30 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel in Transcona, 1800 Day Street. A reception will follow.

Good byes are not forever,

Good byes are not the end,

They simply mean,

I’ll miss you, until we meet again.

Our lives go on without you,

But nothing is the same,

We have to hide our heartache,

When someone speaks your name.

Sad are the hearts that love you,

Silent are the tears that fall,

Living here without you is the

Hardest part of all.

You did so many things for us,

Your heart was kind and true,

And when we needed someone,

We could always count on you.

The special years will not return,

When we were all together,

But with the love in our hearts,

You walk with us forever.
