Thomas “Tom” Franklin Kelly

1966-2025

Tom was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, on December 12, 1966, and sadly passed away on July 24, 2025 at the Seven Oaks General Hospital in Winnipeg, Manitoba, at the age of 58 years.

Tom was born in Winnipeg, but then lived in the US in his childhood. In adulthood, he moved to Winnipeg. He met Helena and fell in love, also becoming a father to 4 children: Tina, Laura, Elmer, and Jonathan. As the years went by, Tom and Helena longed for quieter places, so first to Altona, and then to Gretna where Tom started a career in landscaping. Here, he became a dedicated employee and fellow co-worker and a friend to so many at the church they attended, Seeds. Once the company closed, Tom started to get unsettled and he and Helena left and went back to Winnipeg, also to be closer to the children.

Tom and Helena would spend lots of time doing things they loved and needed to do. When Tom was not at home, he could be found getting together with friends like Jonathan and Rhonda, or other people as well.

Recently, health issues led to repeated hospitalizations and many tests, until finally they found out that Tom in fact had Lewy Body Dementia, among others. So, his life became still about living, but having to do so less independently. He still fought hard, first at home, then the Grace Hospital. And lastly, Seven Oaks Hospital, where he lost the fight.

Tom is predeceased be all his family, and mother-in-law Maria Harder in 2011.

He is survived by his devoted wife Helena of almost 20 years, his 2nd mother-in-law Anna Harder, father-in-law Henry Harder, sisters-in-law Margaret and Maria, his children Tina, Laura, Elmer, Jonathan, and their families, two grandchildren Sophia and R.J. He also leaves his nieces Chelsea (Alex) and their son Vincent, Ashley, and AnnaMarie, and nephew Justin.

Helena and her family would like to thank the following people: Jonathan and Rhonda Leoppky and their family, all the hospital staff and homecare workers for your tireless care of Tom and Helena when it was so needed. To the staff and care workers of the Lyons Manor. Thank you to the Cropo Funeral Chapel staff. Thank you for all the kindness shown to Tom, as well as the family.

Funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 31, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street, with interment to follow at Brookside Cemetery, 3001 Notre Dame Avenue.
