TATJANA (TANIA) MILENA STEGNE

With profound sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of Tatjana Milena Stegne on July 16th, 2025 with family by her side at the age of 72.

She was predeceased by her parents Nada and Rudolph, and brother Igor. She is lovingly remembered by her husband Louis of 45 years, children David, Eric (Sarah),  Alexandra (Ricardo) and grandchildren Abigail, Vincent, Claire and Louis. She also leaves behind brothers Boris, Mario and Emil, nephews Mark (Sherri), Richard (Judy), and great nephews Nathan, Matthew, Eli and Thomas.

Tania was born on October 28th, 1952 and raised in Winnipeg. She met Louis through church attending a variety of celebrations and events held in the hall. They were married in May of 1980, and over the next several years welcomed their three children.  She  graduated from St. Boniface Dicoesan High school, and went on to work at Kernaghan Adjustors. Tatjana was then able to stay home to raise the children and maintain the household. After the children were grown, she returned to the work force at Oma's Bakeshop for a few years .

Tatjana was a devout catholic and an active member of Our Lady of Lourdes Slovenian Catholic church. She was very involved with decorating for various seasons and celebrations, creating and maintaining floral arrangements, and helping to ensure the church was well kept.

In the summer time Tania was out in the yard tending to her many flowers. Both the front and backyard were filled with a variety of beautiful blooms that were so well taken care of. She enjoyed going for walks, and spending time with her family and friends. Tania was a very kind and selfless person, always putting others needs before her own.

In 2017 she was given the diagnosis of progressive supranuclear palsy, and slowly over the years, her independence was taken away. She remained at home with additional care until late 2023 when she was transferred to Kildonan Long Term care home.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff of Kildonan Long Term care home for their care throughout mom's stay, especially at end of life. Special thank you to visitors, and Father Diosdado Parrenas for his many blessings. Our deep appreciation to Rosa and Maria, two of mom's favourite homecare nurses who went above and beyond and provided mom with exceptional care.

Funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday July 26th at 11:00am  at Our Lady of Lourdes Slovenian Catholic Church, 95 MacDonald Avenue. Private interment to follow at a later date.
