BOGDAN BIELAWNY Obituary

It is with deep respect and cherished memories that we announce the passing of Bogdan Bogusław Bielawny, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. Bogdan passed away peacefully at Health Sciences Center Hospital on July 4th, surrounded by his family, at the age of 76.

Born in Wroclaw, Poland, in 1949 to Stefan and Maria Bielawny, he was raised alongside his brother Jozef and fostered strong values of family, loyalty, and diligence.  In 1977, he married Alicja Bielawny and was a dedicated father to Tomasz Bielawny and his wife Ala, and especially a proud grandfather to Johnny and Isabella Bielawny.

In 1982, Bogdan, together with his wife and son, immigrated to Canada, embracing new opportunities with unwavering determination.  A trained civil engineer, he took great pride in providing for his family and was especially pleased to own his first home in Canada, featuring an extensive garden that he tended to with care each summer.

Following his retirement, Bogdan enjoyed spending time in his garden and at their family cottage in Victoria Beach, where he appreciated the outdoors and quiet moments around the fireplace playing card games.  Summers spent at Victoria Beach brought him immense satisfaction, particularly when shared with family and friends.  Bogdan was known for his warm hospitality, always welcoming guests for conversation and camaraderie.

He frequently traveled to Poland to visit his brother Jozef and extended family in Krotoszyn.  Bogdan’s passions included family, soccer, card games, travel, and storytelling.  His garden was meticulously maintained, his stories memorable, and his sense of humor widely admired.  He valued his morning tea and upheld traditions with consistency and good cheer.

Bogdan demonstrated perseverance, kindness, and steadfast devotion to his family, especially celebrating the accomplishments of his grandchildren, Johnny and Isabella.  He attended many sporting events and dance recitals to cheer on his grandchildren.  He leaves behind a legacy defined by integrity, loyalty, and generosity.

We would like to thank the GH7 staff at HSC Hospital for the excellent care and compassion for Bogdan in his final days.

Bogdan will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.  His memory will remain in the hearts of many.

Rosary will be held on Thursday July 10, 2025 at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Ghost Parish, 341 Selkirk Avenue.  Interment to follow in Holy Ghost Cemetery, 4387 Main Street.
